Let’s get to know Armando Fuentes, minister of Iglesia La Trinidad in Temuco.
How is it like to count with a communication space like www.iglesiaanglicana.cl? How often do you visit it? It’s good to count with that space because it gives us the chance to know, be connected and communicate in the world of communications. I visit it every day.
Armando, for more than 20 years you lived in the fifth region. Have you been able to visit it lately? Yes, I go there once every year to visit relatives such as my mother, María; my cousins, my siblings Rodolfo and Ricardo, and my mother-in-law, Lidia.
After thirteen years serving the Lord in Temuco, what pleasant things come to your mind now, from this period? a. the value of the human team I work with on the Lord’s work b. the things I learn daily in the pastoral ministry since it’s a challenge to be a pastor and not dying in the attempt c. that in the hard moments, the God has embraced me with His love.
Are you an assiduous news reader? Tell us about news that have impressed you and/or that you have been praying for. I read www.emol.com everyday and the news that impress me are a) Global Warming on Earth b) the new urban tribes in Chile c) the increase of violence and the lack of moral authority in our national leaders

What people were important in your first steps of Christian life? Hugo Fernández, Grahame Scarratt, Ian Morrison, Brian Skinner, Omar Ortiz. Hugo taught me about time and work planning, and helped me to set clear targets in pastoral life. Grahame Scarratt taught me the value of God’s Word and the encouragement to keep studying Moore College. Ian Morrison taught me that joy and simple things in life must me daily enjoyed, with peace and gratitude. Omar Ortiz showed me the sacrifice and friendship with other colleague pastors of other denominations.

Your first synod was in 1992. Tell us your valuation of the last synod in 2006. Maturity in the participation of the different delegates, in spite of the presence of new young members. A revitalization of a young Anglican generation in the synod.
You’ve had to travel abroad. Tell us the motives of some you would like to share. Perú, because I’m National Director of Evangelismo Explosivo Chile (Explosive Evangelism). Mexico, because I participated in Operación Niño de Navidad OCC, that works along with Billy Graham’s Crusade, under the leadership of Franklin Graham.
For how long have you been involved in Evangelismo Explosivo ? Do you have a program of this at La Trinidad? I’ve been involved for a very long time, when Ione Walbaum instructed me in Evengelismo Explosivo when I was in Quilpué as a pastor. I’ve been the director since 2006. Regarding my church, I tried to implement a thirteen-week program that was interrupted by labor matters of my students. We’ll continue with it.
What has it meant work with biblical software in your ministry? It has been of great help because in one hand, it makes it easier to work on the notebook having the comments, Bibles and other facilitations. On the other, it doesn’t replace the relation with the sheep and attending them. In third place, it helps me familiarize with other versions of the Bible and understanding better a passage.
Share with us at least three of your favorite plates Ravioli, lasagna and pizza would be my favorite. Fruit salads, almond chocolate and lemon pie are my weakness.
